Itinerary

Day 1 – Luxor East Bank & Valley of the Kings

Karnak Temple

Begin at Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex in ancient Egypt. Wander through its majestic hypostyle halls, colossal columns, and sacred lakes. Karnak’s grandeur and historical importance make it an essential start to your Luxor journey.

Luxor Temple

Continue to Luxor Temple, centrally located in the city. This beautifully preserved temple was central to religious festivals and features impressive statues, pylons, and intricate reliefs that reveal the spiritual life of ancient Thebes.

Valley of the Kings

Cross the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis where New Kingdom pharaohs were buried in elaborately decorated tombs. Explore the chambers of legendary rulers such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II.

Day 2 – West Bank Highlights & Dendera Temple

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

Visit the stunning Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El-Bahari, carved dramatically into the cliffs. This temple celebrates Egypt’s most powerful female pharaoh with terraces, statues, and reliefs illustrating her divine birth and reign.

Colossi of Memnon

Stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two gigantic seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood guard over the West Bank for thousands of years.

Dendera Temple of Hathor

Travel north to the Dendera Temple Complex, renowned for its exceptional preservation and exquisite decorations. Dedicated to the goddess Hathor, this temple is famous for its colorful ceilings and astronomical scenes, including the zodiac. Dendera offers a glimpse into Ptolemaic-era religious art and architecture.

Day 3 – Abydos Temple & Additional Luxor Exploration

Abydos Temple of Seti I

Explore the Abydos Temple, one of Egypt’s most sacred sites, built by Pharaoh Seti I. Known for its beautifully detailed reliefs and the Abydos King List, this temple holds great religious significance as the believed burial place of Osiris, god of the afterlife.

Additional Luxor Sites

Depending on your interests and pace, this day can include further visits to less crowded sites around Luxor, additional temple exploration, or more time at the Luxor Museum to deepen your understanding of the city’s history.
